Dimitri, Swiss Clown and Mime
September 18, 1935 – July 19, 2016
The Swiss Society of New York is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of great, beloved clown Dimitri, former Guest of Honor at the 2010 Swiss Ball.
His work will continue to deeply shape the history of theater, mime and circus arts, not only in the small village of Verscio, but also in the rest of Switzerland and around the world.
He will always be remembered and will forever remain in our hearts.
For 133 years, the Swiss Society of New York, Inc. continues to be a vibrant link in the Swiss-American community of the Greater New York area. The cornerstone of these activities is the annual Swiss Ball. It is recognized nationally and in Switzerland as one of the most important social events of our community.
But the Swiss Society is more than just the Swiss Ball. A yearlong program of educational events is meant to promote and inspire its members and participants. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the Swiss Society of New York is committed to the advocacy and development of cultural exchange between Switzerland and the United States.
